The Local Flower Difference

Most people don't realize that 80% of the flowers used in the United States are imported from other countries. Almost all of these flowers are mass produced in ways that are harmful to workers and florists and are damaging to the environment. When you buy locally grown flowers you can trust that your flowers have been grown in a sustainable and healthy way. Here are some of the other benefits you can enjoy by choosing locally grown flowers:

Local Flowers are Fresh

Imported flowers can spend a week or more being handled and transported - often these flowers spend significant time out

of water. When you buy flowers from us they are harvested at the perfect stage, 1-2 days before you pick them up and are conditioned for maximum vase life.

Local Flowers are Safe

Imported flowers are often grown and treated with toxic chemicals and insecticides that aren't regulated. Our flowers are grown organically and sustainably. We grow our flowers where we live and don't use anything that would be harmful to our environment or our family.

Local Flowers are Unique

Not all flowers ship well. We are able to provide unique flowers that can't be mass produced and flown around the world.

If you want beautiful unique dahlias, narcissus, tulips, lisianthus, zinnias, and more local is the only way to go!

Local Flowers are Ethical

The growing practices of mass flower production are notoriously unethical. Workers are routinely exposed to hazardous chemicals, and poor working conditions and the land is used and abused - turning flowers into a dirty commodity instead of a source of connection and beauty. We care deeply about our land, our ecosystem and our employees. You can feel good about the flowers you buy from us!

Local Flowers are Fragrant

Did you know most imported flowers have lost their natural scent?

Flowers that are mass produced are bred for other characteristics and aren't as fragrant as locally grown flowers. One of the first things our customers notice about our flowers is how good they smell!

Bonus: you also don't have to worry about sniffing dangerous chemicals.

Local Flowers are Seasonal

Local flowers are a reflection of the changing seasons. You can enjoy the perfect tulip as spring begins, snapdragons in June, lisianthus in late summer, and dahlias in the fall.

The seasonality of local flowers creates a connection to the place they were grown and the people who grew them. If you use local flowers for a special event those flowers will always connect you to a memory of that place, time and season.
